Preliminary Audience on Waste Management in Cilegon with Mayor Helldy Agustian, PLN, and Academics

On February 12, 2025, the WITS Group Team attended a Preliminary Audience with the Mayor of Cilegon, Helldy Agustian, the Directors of PLN’s Business Group, and leading academics from the Institute of Technology PLN. This engagement served as an initial step in exploring waste-to-energy solutions and included an observation visit to one of Indonesia’s largest power plants as part of a broader assessment of the energy sector.

Visit to TPSA Bagendung: Observing the RDF Waste Processing The agenda began with a visit to TPSA Bagendung, where the team observed firsthand the Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) process—an advanced waste management technology that converts waste into alternative fuel. RDF presents a significant opportunity for reducing urban waste while contributing to Indonesia’s energy transition.

Academic Support

Institute of Technology PLN Joins the Delegation Adding further significance to the engagement, the WITS Group Team was accompanied by the Vice Rector and several distinguished scholars from the Institute of Technology PLN, who expressed interest in further exploring this initiative. The participation of academic experts underscores the strategic importance of this endeavor—not just from a business perspective but also as part of a broader scientific and policy-driven approach to energy and environmental management in Indonesia.

Visit to One of Indonesia’s Largest Power Plants

Following the TPSA Bagendung visit, the team proceeded to one of Indonesia’s largest power plants to gain insights into its operational scale and better understand the role of large-scale energy production in the country’s power infrastructure.
